CARE Hospitals Performs India’s First Bone Grafting Procedure Using Advanced Synthes RIA2 System
Hyderabad: In a groundbreaking achievement in orthopedic care, CARE Hospitals, Malakpet, has successfully performed India’s first bone grafting procedure using the state-of-the-art Synthes RIA2 system. This minimally invasive and innovative technique has ushered in a new era in orthopedic treatments, offering improved outcomes and faster recovery for patients.
The landmark procedure was conducted by Dr. Repakula Kartheek, Senior Orthopedic Surgeon at CARE Hospitals, Malakpet, and his team. Their efforts brought relief to Mr. Kotha Sai Santosh Reddy, a 31-year-old patient who had endured months of suffering due to a non-union tibia fracture.
Speaking about the procedure, Dr. Kartheek explained, “The patient had fractured his tibia eight months ago and underwent surgery at another hospital. Unfortunately, the fracture did not heal as expected, leading to a condition known as non-union of the tibia. We performed a new surgery using an interlocking nail to stabilize the tibia and replaced the conventional bone grafting method with the advanced Synthes RIA2 system.”
He elaborated, “With this system, we harvested the bone graft from the patient’s femur without additional incisions, avoiding the challenges of traditional grafting methods that involve taking bone from the hip (iliac crest). This technique significantly reduces complications, making the procedure safer, less painful, and more efficient.”
The Synthes RIA2 system, making its debut in India through this procedure, exemplifies the latest in minimally invasive medical technology. CARE Hospitals’ pioneering use of this advanced system underscores its commitment to innovative and patient-centered healthcare.
Dr. Kartheek added, “By adopting the Synthes RIA2 system, we aim to minimize patient discomfort, reduce recovery times, and enhance the overall outcomes of orthopedic surgeries.”
This landmark achievement reaffirms CARE Hospitals’ position as a leader in adopting cutting-edge medical technologies, ensuring that patients receive world-class care with unparalleled safety and efficiency.
