CARE Hospitals Organises Women’s Day Walkathon in Visakhapatnam
150+ women, including knee replacement patients, participate to promote active living
Visakhapatnam, March 7: Marking International Women’s Day, CARE Hospitals in Visakhapatnam organised a special walkathon on Saturday to promote women’s health and encourage an active lifestyle.
More than 150 women, including former patients who had undergone robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, participated in the event, demonstrating how advanced medical care and rehabilitation can help patients regain mobility and confidence.

The walkathon began near Kali Mata Temple and concluded at Yoga Village. The initiative was aimed at spreading awareness about preventive healthcare and encouraging women to prioritise their physical well-being.
The walk was led by Dr. Ravi Chandra Vattipalli, Chief Robotic Knee Replacement Surgeon at CARE Hospitals, along with Dr. Raghu Yelavarthy, Senior Orthopedic Surgeon, and G. Sukesh Reddy, Chief Operating Officer of CARE Hospitals, Visakhapatnam. Hospital staff, former patients and members of the local community also joined the walk.
Doctors said the participation of former knee replacement patients reflected the effectiveness of modern surgical techniques and rehabilitation in restoring mobility and improving quality of life.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ravi Chandra Vattipalli said women often prioritise the needs of their families over their own health. “Regular physical activity, timely medical check-ups and awareness are important to prevent many health issues,” he said, urging women to adopt healthier lifestyles.
CARE Hospitals COO G. Sukesh Reddy said the hospital regularly organises community initiatives to promote preventive healthcare. “This walkathon is a step towards encouraging women to take charge of their health and lead active lives,” he said.
The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to prioritise their health and spread awareness about women’s well-being in the community.
