Ramakrishna CARE Hospital, Raipur Hosts India’s First VR-Integrated Nephrocritical Care Course

Raipur: Ramakrishna CARE Hospital, in collaboration with the NephroCritical Care Society, successfully hosted the 5th Nephrocritical Care Review Course in Raipur, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in India with the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) for medical training.

The two-day program, themed “The Kidneys in the ICUs – Cross-Talk, Clarity, and Cutting-Edge Care”, brought together eminent international and national faculty, including Dr. Abhilash Koratala (Medical College of Wisconsin, USA), Dr. K. R. Ramanathan (National University of Singapore), Dr. Valentine Lobo (KEM Hospital, Pune), and Dr. Sandeep Dave, Managing Director, Ramakrishna CARE Hospitals, among others.

The sessions featured VR-based learning modules, rotational workshops on SLED and CRRT, high-level debates, and multidisciplinary case discussions, attracting nephrologists, intensivists, critical care physicians, and postgraduate trainees from across India.

Dr. Sandeep Dave said, “The introduction of VR and AR in nephrocritical care training represents a significant advancement in medical education, enabling clinicians to gain immersive and practical understanding of critical care scenarios.”

The event reinforced Raipur’s emergence as a hub for advanced medical education while setting a new benchmark in nephrocritical care training.

Established in 1992, Ramakrishna CARE Hospital is NABH-accredited and part of the CARE Hospitals Group, with recognised excellence in cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, nephrology, and robotic-assisted surgery.
