Hyderabad: Celebrating the rich culture of bengali cinema, Hyderabad Bangalee Samity in association with the Tourism and Culture Government of Telangana, Moving Images and Utsab Cultural Association is all set to present the 3rd edition of Telangana Bengali Film Festival in the city.
Mr. HarikrishnaMamidi, Director of the Department of Language and Culture, Government of Telangana along with Mr. Mohammad Ali Baig, Indian theatre personality today announced the forthcoming film festival, a socio-cultural activity in the city.
The film festival is going to be held from 6th December 2019-8th December 2019 at Prasad preview theatre, Banjara Hills unveiling 50 films (national & international) to be screened throughout the event with English subtitles. A spectacular gamut of celebrities, divas and cinema lovers from Bollywood and Tollywood will descend to Hyderabad to make this festival a success. Spanning three days, the festival consists of eight films in two sections: Popular Films and a retrospective; along with a range of award categories. Dedicated to uplifting the rich heritage of bengali cinema, the film festival will have 10 feature films, 8 short films and 3 foreign films.
Apart from movie screenings, the film festival will unfold a variety of striking activities like acting workshop by Mr. Mohammad Ali Baig, Theatre professional & Mr. Debasish Sen Sharma, independent filmmaker, photo exhibition of Mr. Ritwik Ghatak & Mr. Goutam Ghose, cookery competition and many more.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Ranjan Kumar Roy Choudhury, Chairman Hyderabad Bangalee Samitysays, “Eight lakh bengalis reside in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, who are parched for cultural shows or movie screenings in bengali. TBFF – Aayna, 2019 will again look to unite the huge bengali diaspora living in Hyderabad and beyond and help them connect with the artistic, social, cultural and political ethos of their roots”.
Mr. Sumit Sen, Convener TBFF and Gen Secretary Hyderabad Bangalee Samity says, “We are delighted to announce the begin of an artistic carnival in the city. The film festival will bring a bouquet of award-winning and much-lauded films during the three-day festival and a chance to interact with the top stars during various interactive sessions. We will have seasoned as well as young faces from our very own Tollywood gracing the festival. We have named this film festival as Aayna which means Mirroring Life, aiming at celebrating all the emotions in a reel that we go through in reality”.
Mr. Krishnendu Roy, Joint Convener, Utsab Cultural Association says “We are extremely glad to be a part of the biggest extravaganza this year. For all movie buffs around the city, this interactive film festival will bring a unique experience talking emotions and various aspects that surface during the making of films.”

The film festival will have plenty of food stalls of different tastes starting from biryani to Kolkata sweets.
