Aster Quality Care Begins Operations After Merger, Eyes Expansion of Advanced Healthcare Beyond Metros
Hyderabad, July 3: Aster DM Quality Care Limited has officially commenced operations following the merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Limited (QCIL), creating one of India’s largest integrated healthcare networks with 39 hospitals across 28 cities and more than 10,600 beds.
The merged entity brings together four healthcare brands—Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, Evercare and KIMSHEALTH—and aims to expand access to specialist care, advanced treatment and medical technology, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Under the new structure, Dr. Azad Moopen will continue as Executive Chairman, while Varun Khanna has assumed charge as Managing Director and Group CEO.
The company said the merged platform will focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure across South and Central India by expanding centres of excellence, specialist services and advanced clinical capabilities in fast-growing non-metro cities. These include Nagpur, Aurangabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Nagercoil, Kolhapur, Kannur, Kasaragod and Kottakkal.
Speaking on the commencement of operations, Dr. Azad Moopen said the merger marks a significant milestone in building one of India’s most trusted healthcare institutions by combining clinical expertise, shared values and patient-centric care.
Varun Khanna said the immediate priority would be the seamless integration of the two organisations while ensuring uninterrupted patient care. He added that the combined network would focus on delivering high-quality clinical outcomes through digital solutions, operational excellence and collaboration across hospitals.
According to the company, the merger is expected to generate synergies in clinical collaboration, technology adoption, procurement, digital health and operational efficiency. Doctors across the network will increasingly work through shared clinical protocols, multidisciplinary case discussions and centres of excellence to ensure consistent standards of care.
The healthcare network also announced plans to accelerate investments in advanced medical technologies, including Gamma Knife, stereotactic radiosurgery systems such as ZAP, robotic surgical platforms and 12 additional LINAC-based radiation therapy systems across tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The initiative aims to reduce the need for patients to travel to metropolitan centres for complex treatments.
The company said the combined network plans to expand its capacity to more than 15,000 beds in the coming years. With a workforce of over 45,000 healthcare professionals, the expansion is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff across India.
