CARE Hospitals Completes 500 Robotic Knee Replacements in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam, June 24: CARE Hospitals, Health City, Visakhapatnam, has successfully completed 500 robotic knee replacement surgeries within a year, strengthening its position as a leading centre for robotic joint replacement in North Andhra Pradesh.
The milestone has helped hundreds of patients suffering from severe knee arthritis and chronic joint pain regain mobility and return to their daily activities. The robotic knee replacement programme is led by Dr. Ravi Chandra Vattipalli, who said robotic-assisted surgery offers greater precision, improved implant positioning, less post-operative pain, and faster recovery.
Doctors noted that knee arthritis cases are rising due to ageing, obesity, diabetes, sedentary lifestyles, previous injuries, and delayed treatment. In North Andhra, physically demanding occupations such as farming, fishing, carrying heavy loads, and prolonged squatting also contribute to early wear and tear of knee joints.
CARE Hospitals recently became the first centre in Andhra Pradesh to introduce the advanced Medial Stabilized (Medial Pivot) Knee Design using robotic-assisted technology. According to hospital officials, patients from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, East Godavari, and parts of Odisha are increasingly opting for robotic knee replacement procedures at the facility.
Commenting on the achievement, G. Sukesh Reddy said the hospital remains committed to bringing world-class robotic orthopaedic care closer to patients in the region while improving recovery outcomes and quality of life.
