HDFC Bank to organize Saveathon to create awareness on water scarcity

Hyderabad: HDFC Bank today announced the launch of 1st edition of Saveathon – a run with a noble cause, in the city. Saveathon aims to create awareness about an issue that is staring all of humanity in its face – water scarcity.

HDFC Bank Saveathon is scheduled for Sunday, 10th December 2017. It will be flagged off from People’s Plaza, Necklace Road and the route will follow landmarks such Hussain Sagar. Participants can choose from the categories of 5 and 10 kilometres and take a pledge to save water.

Mr. Madhusudan Hegde, Head Branch Banking – South, HDFC Bank said, “We witness water scarcity in many parts of the country particularly during summer. Our own city is not an exception. While authorities are taking steps to mitigate this, citizens can also contribute by saving water, by following simple routines like turning off water taps when not required and rainwater harvesting. Through HDFC Bank Saveathon, we hope to carry this message far and wide by creating awareness among citizens of Hyderabad.”

Noted actor Sai Dharam Tej has also lent his support to this initiative. He said, “I’m proud to be associated with HDFC Bank Saveathon. I believe that every drop of water saved makes a difference. As individuals we too have to contribute and it is time that we started thinking in that direction. I appeal to all people, especially youth, to come up with solutions to save water. I am confident that HDFC Bank Saveathon will act as a platform to do so.”
